Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AI Matters (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in connection with your use of the website at aimatters.cc (the “Service”).
AI Matters is a minimal, read-only publication. There are no user accounts, no payments, and no advertising on this site. The only measurement we run is a privacy-focused, cookie-free page view counter, described below. This Policy is written to reflect that reality, rather than to describe practices we don't actually engage in.

What we collect
AI Matters does not have user accounts, does not run advertising, and does not set cookies or any similar tracking technology. We do not ask you for your name, email address, or any other Personal Data to read the Service.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It is designed for privacy: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not follow you across other websites. We only ever see aggregate numbers, such as how many people read a page, never who they are.
The only data generated by your visit is standard Server Log Data, collected automatically by our hosting provider, Vercel, as part of operating the Service. This may include your IP address, browser type and version, the pages requested, and the date and time of the request, which is routine infrastructure logging common to virtually every website on the internet. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not combine it with any other information.
Cookies & Do Not Track
AI Matters does not use cookies, web beacons, or any comparable tracking technology. Our page view counting is cookie-free and does not follow you across the web. You can browse the Service without providing any Personal Data. Because nothing identifies you in the first place, we honor Do Not Track (DNT) signals by default: there is nothing to disable. This disclosure is provided in accordance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).
How we use Server Log Data
We use Server Log Data solely to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service, for example to detect abuse, diagnose errors, and understand aggregate traffic load. We do not use this data for marketing or profiling.
Automated decision-making
We do not make any automated decisions about you, and we do not build profiles based on your use of the Service. Nothing about your access to AI Matters affects any decision made about you by us.
Who we share data with
- Vercel: our hosting provider, which processes Server Log Data on our behalf to operate the Service. Its handling of this data is governed by Vercel's own privacy policy.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose data where required to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of AI Matters or others, or respond to a valid request from a public authority.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party for their own marketing purposes.
Retention
Server Log Data is retained only for as long as necessary for security and operational purposes, consistent with our hosting provider's standard log retention practices, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
Links to other websites
AI Matters exists to point you toward AI news published elsewhere. The daily brief and the firehose both link out to third-party websites we do not control and are not responsible for. Once you leave AI Matters, that site's own privacy policy applies. We encourage you to read it.
Your rights under GDPR (EU / UK)
If you are located in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with equivalent protections, you have the right to:
- Access: request confirmation of, and a copy of, any Personal Data we hold about you
- Rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure: request deletion of your data
- Restriction and objection: restrict or object to how your data is processed
- Data portability: request your data in a portable format
- Lodge a complaint: with your local data protection authority
In practice, because AI Matters does not collect Personal Data beyond routine hosting logs, there is typically very little for us to provide, correct, or delete. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Your rights under CCPA / CPRA (California)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you the right to:
- Know what Personal Data we collect and how it is used
- Delete Personal Data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate Personal Data
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of Personal Data: we do not sell or share Personal Data, so there is nothing to opt out of
- Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights
Because AI Matters collects no Personal Data beyond routine hosting logs and never sells or shares it, in practice there is nothing to request.
Children's privacy
AI Matters is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 16, and the Service has no accounts, forms, or uploads through which a child could provide any.
Security
We rely on our hosting provider's infrastructure-level security to protect Server Log Data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
